About
About Brewbaker
A breakfast and lunch café on a Georgian side street off Nassau Street, with the door open from seven on weekdays.
Brewbaker sits on South Frederick Street, a few steps from Nassau Street and the Trinity playing fields, and it is quiet in the way a side street is quiet. There is a curved glass counter dressed with silk flowers, cream panelling, a cushioned window bench in mustard, and a few tables out on the pavement when the weather is having a good day.
The kitchen cooks to order: the full Irish, scrambled eggs and bacon, omelettes, pancakes, porridge, avocado on toast, and at lunch the sandwiches and the homemade soup. The scones are the thing people come back for — plain, fruit and cheese — and they are credited to Scone Murray, which is what everyone calls him.
The coffee is Lavazza, pulled on the Conti two-group you can see from the street. The door opens at seven Monday to Friday and eight on Saturday, and stays shut on Sundays.
